Must-Have Tools Every Makeup Artist Needs for Flawless Looks

Image
Every makeup artist, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, should have a trusty toolkit to tackle any cosmetic challenge. Imagine trying to blend and contour with your fingers alone—it might be possible, but it’s far from easy! To elevate your artistry, having the right tools is essential. As we grow in our craft, it’s time to invest in quality tools that will enhance our performance. With just P500, you can start building a solid makeup kit. Remember, "A woman's makeup kit is one of her most prized possessions." Your success hinges not only on skill but also on the tools you use. I recently stocked up on new supplies, and here’s a list of five essential tools every makeup artist should have in their kit: I mentioned in my previous post that I bought new supplies in good volume. 1. Makeup Brushes Just like a painter needs various brushes for different strokes, you need the right makeup brushes for a flawless finish. While fingers can work for applicatio...

Photoshoot: Classic and Fun Shoot

Image
It is somehow necessary to study the look you and your photographer want to achieve. Personally, I always ask who my models are and what they look so I would know if our theme fits her face. A well-planned photo shoot will give a great output. I like it more when I'm on spotlight because I could try a look I haven't done before. A nyway, our shoot last Saturday was a rush and for the photos. Note: I post-processed my photos. :) Something I do to master Photoshop and Lightroom I know I look very much like a vampire but I like it. :) I did a makeover on  some of my co staffers! Will post individual before-and-after photos as soon as I finished my lab report. :P  Rhona, Viela and Me!  -End-  Thank you for reading :">

Coed Photoshoot: Feb 2013

Image
A photo shoot was held last wed for the coed page of our school publication. As this term's editor assistant, I would want everything done my way and neat. Anyway, our coed (featured person of the issue) is none other than Mapua Cardinals Night winner Jelik Chua. I did her makeup and hair. Anyway, all photos are raw. I'm not allowed to post processed/edited photos until the release of the issue. Model: Angelique Chua HMUA/Art Director: Jameila Bito-on Photographer: Jude Ricafort Me! :) I had another shoot yesterday. This time, I'm on the spotlight! :) Will post soon!

November 2012 shoot for Zielah's

Image
I had been away for months and it felt like it  had been a decade haha. Kidding aside, I was busy with my finals and press stuff. We were given another load which was the planner/magazine so that explains why I had not updated for so long. Anyway, we had our last photo shoot for Zielah's Couture around last week of November. We had three photographers namely Clem Fajardo, Ralph Marcelo and Jasper Salcedo . Models were Chin Obcena and Nicole Zablan . Makeup by me of course.  If you're interested in the style of the clothes Zielah's Couture is offering, feel free to click the link placed in the left side of this blog. -End-  Thank you for reading :">

Pre-Pageant of Civil Engineering 2012

Image
Every department of the school conducts a pre-pageant to present their beautiful candidates. I was asked by candidate Leanne Bernardo to do her makeup but since the schedule of the event had conflict with my class, I did the whole thing in 45 minutes. Here's a sample photo of what I did. I was not able to take a picture because I was in a rush. I will try my best to look for  a better photo :)  and now I shall study.

EOTD: Night Inspired

Image
Since I wanted to do a colorful makeup,  I made a Night Inspired makeup look. I miss doing makeup for photoshoots but I have to focus in school first. Sad :( Anyway, here's how I did it. 1. Prime your eyes then apply Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk . 2. Apply a shimmery sky blue eye shadow on the center of the lid. 3. Apply a darker shade of blue through the crease and at the outer V of your eyes. 4. A little bit above the crease, apply a purple color and BLEND. 5. Apply your eyeliner on the top of lash line and on the lower  both extending out. 6. On your waterline, apply a white eyeliner. 7. Finish off with Mascara!  For extra drama, you could add some color below your eyeliner at the lower lash line. You could also DRAW some stars like what I did. :)

Coed Photoshoot: October Issue

Image
It had been two issues of not handling the coed  part of the newspaper (girl of the issue) for some "tampo" reasons. Since I will be doing the layout, I decided to once again do the makeup and direct the shoot. My goal is to achieve a doll look on my model Chin . Did i achieved the said look? Oh well, Finals week is over and hello 1 week sleep :) I will be posting some photo tutorial next week. Any suggestion?

Photoshoot: 7 Deadly Sins

Image
David, a co-writer asked me to pose and do makeup. It's for his concept development project in photography course. When he mentioned that the concept was 7 deadly sins i was like " what look will i do? " I have 2 other models and 7 looks to achieve. I don't have a photo tutorial for the looks I made but I will make one upon request or if I have extra time. Anyway, for the base I used KRAVE's  foundations in Ricotta (I used on myself and Viela) and Tiramisu (used on Yani), krave's correct and conceal, and complexion perfection (oil free powder foundation) in Hazelnut and C reme brulee . Thumbs up krave ! The products did a great job in the photo shoot. The models  did not requested for any reapplying despite the excessive heat we experienced from the huge lights. No one had those extreme oiliness whatsoever. The make up did not even melted. :*> I will definitely use these products again! :) Anyway, if ever you see some weird stuff on the face or what...
